In option Health we have been learning about Body Image.We have learnt that Body Image is how people reflect or think about their bodies in a positive or negative way.Negative Body Image can make people hate their bodies and would want to change the body
that they have. A lot of people would look and buy magazines and all sorts of things that would make them think negatively. A lot of people from different places mostly think about themselves in a NEGATIVE way. People that think about their bodies in a negative way are the people that don’t get their thinking straight and they are also the people that don’t like their body. People should never think negatively about their bodies because they are beautiful just they way they are. Negative body image can also lead suicidal thoughts which make them kill themselves.
Societal Influences can me people think positively or negatively about their bodies. Magazines, T.V/youtube ads and video games are examples of Social Influences. When people look at magazines and video games it can make them hate themselves. E.g famous people.Famous people like Stars,singers use photoshop to change what ever parts of their body they hate.When people use photoshop it’s telling people that hating your body is something that's good but it’s not.Most people mainly teenagers think about their body in a negative way. Teenagers buy magazine covers and watch music videos and it influences/makes them change the type of body that they have.
Positive body image can lead to a better life. Positive body image is how people think about their bodies in a positive way or in other words in a good way,like saying,”I love my body” or “I am Beautiful”. Saying something positive about your body can make you feel good as a person. To be honest I use to be one of those who would always hate their bodies and think about their bodies in a negative way.In my past few weeks I would hate looking at my body,when I stand in front of the mirror I would always condemn myself with word like,”I hate my FAT body,I just wished I was skinny and that I didn’t eat to much”. I finally realised that saying those things about myself even made me think of myself as a fat person but actually i'm not fat i’m just human like the others.
From my Option Health class I have learned to love myself and love the type of body that I have even if i'm skinny,slim or fat. I have still learned to love my body no matter what. There’s nothing else that's more important than my body.I have also learnt not to believe/or to listen to other people's opinion. My opinion is more important than anybody else's when it comes to my body.
